Our newly refurbished events space made the perfect canvas for a popup exhibition by local artist Monica Jones.
This collection was inspired by the stunning Landscape of West Cork, in particular local beauty spots surrounding Baltimore. The collaboration sees talented local artist Monica Jones lending seven remarkable art pieces to our space.
Monica, a resident of Baltimore, is an exceptionally talented artist whose work is making waves in the art community. With studio space at Myross Wood House CECAS, Monica is also a member of the newly formed Courtyard Collective at CECAS. The Collective, comprised of 14 West Cork Creatives, has a popup shop in Myross Wood House. The shop brings together the talents of community members and local crafters to offer a unique selection of products.
Monica creates visually sensitive oil paintings that show how the change in light transforms the atmosphere of our incredible West Cork landscape.
Being present in the elements and witnessing this change is crucial for Monica to share this magical transformation. It is during this process Monica builds an emotional and visual memory.
Monica feels the slow rhythm of seasonal change but is also conscious of the overwhelming environmental changes that are taking place in our world today. Monica’s paintings have the power to evoke memories and ignite conversations.
In 2021, Monica achieved a lifelong ambition to live and paint immersed in the West Cork landscape. Monica’s paintings are in private and corporate collections in Ireland and the USA.
