We are delighted to announce, with The Wheel and RetroKit we have been selected to deliver an innovative new programme aimed at filling the sustainable learning gap. The programme will focus on householders, addressing their needs at the initial stages of their home energy upgrade journey. The Ludgate Hub programme was recently announced by Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan, as one of the successful participants in the new €5 million fund under the Community Climate Action Programme. (CCAP)
The Ludgate pilot initiative will build capacity and know-how within the community in West Cork to develop low carbon communities and further engage in climate action. It is being delivered in partnership with ‘The Wheel’ and ‘Retrokit’, and will focus on the following key areas in the drive towards energy efficient households and businesses:
- Raise awareness and knowledge within the community of home energy upgrade solutions, the costs and benefits of these options, and the support measures and opportunities available.
- Build capacity within the community to support homeowners on their upgrade journey, by providing a tailored advisory service.
- Support the development of community scale energy renovation projects by providing an integrated home energy survey advisory service and signposting for grants available.
Our CEO Grainne O’Keeffe met with Minister Eamonn Ryan at the CCAP launch at the Ashling Hotel in Dublin recently, where Ludgate was announced as a winning programme.
Speaking about Ludgate and other successful projects, Minister Ryan said: “The range of projects represented in these awards is an indication of this appetite for initiatives that can help communities move towards a more sustainable future.”
Grainne O’Keeffe, welcomed our selection to deliver this progressive programme, which she believes will bring “significant value to the sustainable energy learning pool” in West Cork.
She added: “We believe businesses, innovators, and householders all have a role to play in tackling the sustainability challenge. And in gathering feedback and listening to the community, we have seen there is a willingness among each to do their part. But people are unsure of the options available to them. This programme aims to tackle this knowledge gap so people are empowered to make choices that work for them – and the planet.”
